If Iran Assassinates Trump, Biden Admin Refuses to Label It ‘Act of War’

The fact that Biden is hesitant to give Iran a clear warning against targeting a former president is disturbing and weakens our democracy.

The Biden-Harris administration’s reluctance to unequivocally warn Iran against any assassination attempts on former President Donald Trump reveals a troubling hesitance in defending American interests. As the situation escalates, with U.S. intelligence briefing Trump’s team about Iranian-orchestrated plots against his life, the response—or lack thereof—from the current administration is a glaring national security flaw and disregard for Trump’s life.

Fox News has recently reported that despite pressing demands from Republicans for a stern warning to Tehran, the White House has sidestepped issuing a direct statement. Instead, they offered a vague reference to previous comments on the matter. National Security Council spokesperson Sean Savitt’s statement that the U.S. “strongly condemns Iran for these brazen threats” does little to assure that real measures are being taken. The question looms large: Why is the sitting president hesitant to give a hostile regime a clear and unambiguous warning that targeting a former U.S. leader would result in severe repercussions?

This administration’s tepid response to the threats against a former president isn’t merely a diplomatic oversight; it’s a grievous misstep that could undermine America’s standing on the world stage. The stakes extend far beyond the personal safety of a high-profile citizen; they strike at the core of our national resolve to protect our leaders and uphold the sanctity of our democratic institutions. When threats against former officials are met with anything less than the strongest possible countermeasures, it sends a chilling message—not just to potential aggressors but to all who watch and gauge our commitment to justice and democratic principles.

Further compounding this issue are alarming reports that a plot involving surface-to-air missiles, potentially sourced from Iran, aimed at Trump’s plane, has been uncovered. The presence of such weapons and the existence of ‘kill teams’ on American soil ready to execute this plot, with weapons allegedly smuggled across our borders, should be causing sleepless nights for our national security apparatus. Instead, we witness a disturbing level of complacency.

The Biden administration‘s lackluster stance on this critical issue sends a message to adversaries that attacks on American leaders will not be meet with the forceful response they warrant. This is not just about one man’s security; it is about the principle of protecting the nation’s representatives from foreign threats. Every lax response erodes a bit more of our international stature and emboldens those who wish to see America weakened.
