Denver Wants to Defund Their Police to Support Illegal Immigrants

Millions will be taken from the Denver police for the illegal immigrants pouring into the city, leaving citizens to ask, "What about us?"

In a move that’s as baffling as it is infuriating, Denver, a city that’s gone all-in on the sanctuary city craze, has decided to take a gamble with its citizens’ safety by defunding its police department to roll out the red carpet for illegal immigrants. They’re plucking a staggering $89.9 million from the city coffers—money that’s supposed to serve the public interest—and throwing it at services for illegal migrants. $8.4 million of this money is from the police budget. This isn’t just irresponsible; it’s a slap in the face to every law-abiding citizen and law enforcement officer in Denver.

But it doesn’t stop there. The fire department’s budget is getting torched for $2.5 million, and even 911 operators are being squeezed for every penny. The very fabric of public safety in Denver is being unraveled thread by thread to fund an unsustainable and illegal influx that’s been supercharged by the Biden administration’s reckless border policies.

Let’s call this what it is: a dangerous experiment in prioritizing illegal migrants over the citizens and public servants who call Denver home. It’s a dereliction of duty by Mayor Mike Johnston and his administration, who seem to think that treating illegal immigrants “with dignity” means robbing citizens of their right to safety and security.

This isn’t just misguided; it’s a gross misallocation of the resources that should be used to protect and serve the very foundation of our community. When public safety becomes a bargaining chip for political agendas, it’s a clear sign that those in charge have lost sight of their primary responsibility: safeguarding the welfare of their constituents. This isn’t just a Denver issue; it’s a stark warning to the rest of America. And let’s not forget, this crisis didn’t just materialize out of thin air. The relentless surge of illegal immigration we’re seeing in cities like Denver is a direct result of the Biden administration’s failure to secure our borders and uphold our nation’s laws.

Denver’s plan is a dangerous precedent that undermines the rule of law and public safety. Sacrificing essential services and the security of its citizens on the altar of illegal immigration is not just misguided—it’s a betrayal of the public trust. When will these Democratic-run cities learn that you can’t fix a crisis by creating another? The safety and security of American citizens must always come first. It’s high time we demand leadership that understands that basic principle.
