Woke Ideology and Greed Are Destroying this Elementary School
Glassbrook Elementary, a California school swimming in federal dollars, decided that the pinnacle of educational advancement was to bring in Woke Kindergarten for a whopping $250,000. Not surprisingly, after two years under the guidance of this so-called teacher training service—dedicated to indoctrinating our youngest minds with everything from “abolitionist early education” to “pro-black, queer, and trans liberation”—student performance didn’t just stagnate; it plummeted.
At Glassbrook Elementary, a mere sliver—less than 4%—of students meet the mark in math, and only 12% read at the appropriate grade level. Nestled in a struggling, low-income neighborhood, this school serves a community where two-thirds of its students are grappling with English as a second language and a staggering 80% are of Hispanic heritage.
One would assume that a school like this would double down and focus on academic basics, but instead, they used a federal grant to hire Woke Kindergarten. Woke Kindergarten’s agenda is only scratching the surface. Across the country, from public to private schools, from K-12 and beyond, we’re witnessing a rampant spread of leftist indoctrination. Organizations like Woke Kindergarten, pushing kids to “resist, heal, liberate, and create,” miss the mark entirely. Instead, they ought to be focusing on teaching kids to “read, help, learn, and count.” Since when do elementary schoolers need lessons in “resisting” and “liberating”? It’s an utter inversion of educational priorities and frankly, it turns the American education system into an international joke.
Digging deeper, OpenTheBooks unveiled another disturbing trend at Glassbrook Elementary, a school struggling under the weight of low performance and high poverty. Despite these challenges, nearly two-thirds of its staff rake in six-figure salaries, while some retired educators lounge on pensions surpassing the $200,000 mark.
Clearly, the powers that be at this institution, tasked with molding the minds of our future leaders, have chosen to either funnel their resources into bloated salaries and extravagant pensions or squander them on a woke curriculum that elevates gender study and protesting over basic reading and math skills. The debacle at Glassbrook Elementary starkly reflects the grim state of American education—there’s a blatant disregard for the quality of students’ learning experiences. It’s a glaring example of a deep-seated crisis in our educational priorities, where a perilous fixation on woke ideologies trumps the fundamental needs of our children’s education.
