Trump Cabinet Picks Targeted with Bomb Threats and Swatting

Nearly a dozen of Trump’s Cabinet nominees faced violent threats Tuesday, prompting a swift law enforcement response.

During the week of Thanksgiving, when Americans are supposed to come together in gratitude and unity, several of President-elect Donald Trump’s Cabinet nominees faced something far darker Tuesday night: a string of violent threats that sought to intimidate and terrorize. The targeted attacks on these nominees—from bomb threats to swatting—represent not just a breakdown in civil discourse but an outright assault on the very fabric of our democracy.

Among those targeted were high-profile figures such as John Ratcliffe, tapped for CIA director, and Pete Hegseth, nominated for secretary of defense. These are individuals nominated to protect and serve our nation, yet they found themselves needing protection from threats within our own borders. This disturbing trend underscores a broader issue: even as Trump calls for national unity and a focus on a prosperous future, there are elements so poisoned by partisan hatred that they resort to threats and violence against anyone associated with him.

It’s a bleak testament to the deep divisions in our country. Brooke Rollins and Lee Zeldin, nominated for secretary of agriculture and EPA administrator respectively, also reported being targeted. Zeldin’s ordeal involved a pipe bomb threat with a pro-Palestinian message. Hardly shocking, considering the pro-Palestinian movement’s notorious fondness for violence.

This wave of threats and the response to them should not be seen as isolated incidents but as a wake-up call. The persistence of such violence and intimidation tactics threatens to undermine our democracy. It’s essential that we as a nation stand firmly against such acts of terror and support our leaders in their efforts to lead without fear of violence. Whether you’re a Democrat or Republican, it’s unequivocally wrong to engage in or endorse violence against any public official. We must all stand united in condemning such acts, especially during such a pivotal time in a country when we should be unified.

Let this be clear: the acts of a radical few will not deter the Trump administration from its mission to restore and uphold American greatness. We must remain vigilant and support President Trump and his cabinet. As a nation, we need to reject the toxic divisiveness that fuels such attacks and work towards a future where political differences are settled with votes, not violence.
