Soros-Funded Groups Behind Anti-Israel Protests

George Soros' foundations financed organizations fueling anti-Israel sentiment and organizing protests against the nation.

George Soros’ Open Society Foundations have funded several organizations that promote anti-Israel rhetoric and have been involved in protests against the country, particularly in the aftermath of the deadliest attack on Jews since the Holocaust. One of these organizations, Adalah—The Legal Center for Arab Minority Rights in Israel, routinely released reports and filed petitions in the Israeli Supreme Court, accusing the government of misconduct, racial segregation, and “Judaization” through housing policies. Soros’s nonprofit has provided at least $1.5 million in funding to Adalah since 2016.

Soros’ support for anti-Israel groups gained national attention when organizations he had previously funded, such as Jewish Voice for Peace and If Not Now, organized a protest inside the U.S. House of Representatives Cannon office building. Jewish Voice for Peace received at least $350,000 in Open Society Foundations funding and has characterized Israel as an apartheid state and an occupier.

In addition to these prominent groups, Soros’s foundation has also financially backed lesser-known organizations that promote anti-Israel and anti-Zionist messages within the United States and globally. For instance, the Palestine Institute for Public Diplomacy (PIPD) received $277,000 in grants earmarked for advocacy in Europe. PIPD disseminates materials that accuse Israel of “rainbow washing” to distract from its global image and paint all Israelis as colonists taking land from local Arabs. PIPD also promotes the narrative that the “two-state” solution is a myth.

Moreover, Soros’s foundation has provided $300,000 in grants to the Association for the Promotion of Jewish Secularism, which publishes the Jewish Currents magazine. This magazine, originally founded as a secular publication affiliated with the Communist Party USA, now identifies as a democratic socialist, secular Jewish publication. It includes articles that criticize Western governments for their response to the recent Israel-Hamas conflict.

Soros, who is known for his philanthropic efforts in various causes, has a history of contributing to both domestic and international initiatives. His Open Society Foundations have supported criminal justice reform, elections, and other political endeavors. Recently, control of the foundation was handed over to Soros’s son, Alexander Soros, who expressed a desire to play a more significant role in influencing U.S. politics. His initial focus as head of the organization is on supporting voting and abortion rights.

In conclusion, George Soros’s Open Society Foundations have channeled significant funds to organizations involved in promoting anti-Israel rhetoric and organizing protests against the country. These efforts have received widespread attention, and Soros’s involvement in various causes continues to draw public interest.
