Rep. Crane Advocates Daniel Penny to Receive Congressional Gold Medal

Representative Eli Crane's support for Daniel Penny is a strong statement against the moral decay in our society where political correctness trumps safety.

Representative Eli Crane, a man I’ve had the pleasure of working with during this year’s Israel Appreciation Day, is stepping up to recognize a true act of American heroism. Crane, a staunch proponent of our Western values and defender of our right to self-defense, is pushing to award Daniel Penny, a U.S. Marine veteran, with Congress’ highest civilian honor, the Congressional Gold Medal.

Penny finds himself at the center of a heated debate after he took decisive action in a New York City subway to neutralize a potential threat, a homeless man, Jordan Neely, who reportedly announced, “someone’s going to die today.” Witnesses described a scene of escalating danger, with the man’s erratic behavior causing alarm among passengers. Penny, interpreting the situation as a serious threat, engaged the man in a chokehold, an action that led to the man’s death but potentially saved others from harm.

Daniel Penny has been cleared of all charges related to Neely’s death, much to the chagrin of the BLM activists who will, no doubt, continue to decry his actions. However, let’s set the record straight: race had nothing to do with this incident. Penny’s actions were driven by a genuine concern for the safety of his fellow subway passengers.

Representative Crane, a retired Navy SEAL, has articulated a powerful narrative in his resolution, emphasizing that Penny’s actions were in defense of vulnerable citizens—women and children among them. He points out the failure of local governments under President Biden’s administration to protect their residents effectively, painting Penny’s intervention as a necessary act of courage in the face of such neglect.

Crane’s push to award Penny is not just about recognizing an individual act of bravery; it’s a strong statement against the moral decay in our society where political correctness often trumps practical safety measures. It’s about affirming that in America, heroes who stand up to protect their fellow citizens should be celebrated, not vilified. Penny’s impending honor sends a clear message: in a nation where the rule of law and safety are increasingly under threat, the actions of brave individuals like Penny are vital and commendable.

As we consider the implications of this resolution, it’s essential to remember that true justice balances compassion with the harsh realities of maintaining public order and safety. Crane’s move to honor Penny is a bold affirmation of these values, reinforcing the principle that standing up for one’s community, especially when it involves risking one’s safety, is the epitome of American courage and resolve.
