Donte LaShawen Cole, a 38-year-old man from Euclid, Ohio, faces a slew of charges, including eight counts of human trafficking, six counts of involuntary servitude, and multiple other felonies. The story begins with agents from the state Attorney General’s Office and the Department of Homeland Security conducting surveillance on a motel, the Roadway Inn in Monroeville, Ohio. Their suspicions were aroused when they observed multiple men entering and leaving one of the rooms throughout the day.
Upon knocking on the door, agents were confronted with a deeply disturbing situation. Two women, one aged 21 and the other aged 20, disclosed that they were being forced into prostitution by Cole. More shockingly, a 16-year-old girl was found in another room at the motel, who also claimed to be under Cole’s control.
According to their accounts, these women had been lured into this harrowing situation by the teenager, and their daily quota was to earn between $600 and $700 through prostitution. Cole provided them with basic necessities like food, clothing, and hygiene products, creating a twisted dependency.
The grim narrative continues with the revelation that these women were made to send explicit photos of themselves to Cole, who posted advertisements for sexual services on various websites. These ads were placed not only locally but also in cities like Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Chicago, and Washington, D.C.

The women reported that he warned them, “Ya’ll try to leave, there will be consequences.” This is not Cole’s first encounter with the law; in 2010, he pleaded guilty to a felony robbery charge in Philadelphia and was sentenced to 18 to 36 months in jail.
