California Plans to Give Illegal Immigrants Zero Down Payment Home Loans

With an economy where legal residents struggle to afford homes, woke Californian lawmakers want to give illegal immigrants with zero down, no payment home loans.

The recent legislative push in California exemplifies the misguided priorities that plague our current political landscape. Progressive lawmakers are advancing Assembly Bill 1840, which shockingly prioritizes illegal immigrants for zero down payment home loans through the state’s first-time homebuyer program. This legislation is a slap in the face to every taxpaying American—a ticking time bomb of bureaucratic blunders and fiscal irresponsibility.

Authored by Assemblymember Joaquin Arambula, D-Fresno, this bill embodies the disturbing trend of placing non-citizens above the very people who have contributed to the fabric of our communities—those who served our country, workers, and families scraping by in a state brutalized by inflation and economic mismanagement. Arambula argues that homeownership benefits should not discriminate based on immigration status, yet he blatantly disregards the countless legal residents desperate for such opportunities.

Let’s dissect the implications of AB 1840 further. The bill would open the California Dream for All Shared Appreciation Loans program to anyone, irrespective of their legal status. This program doesn’t just assist with home purchases; it potentially gifts 20% of a home’s purchase price with no repayment obligations until the home is sold, refinanced, or transferred. What’s more, the mechanics of the bill seem to lack rigorous oversight on repayment, potentially setting the stage for a financial disaster reminiscent of the pre-2008 housing bubble.

Critics like State Sen. Brian Dahle and San Diego County Supervisor Jim Desmond have voiced stark warnings against this bill. Dahle rightly calls it an insult to Californians struggling to achieve homeownership legally, while Desmond highlights the fiscal irresponsibility of rewarding illegal immigration at the expense of legal residents and citizens.

This bill, now poised for a Senate vote, isn’t just poor policy—it’s a potential catalyst for a deeper housing crisis in a state already in the throes of economic dysfunction. If passed, it will further exacerbate California’s deficit, strain public resources, and increase the tax burden on its law-abiding citizens.

Policies should prioritize legal residents who contribute daily to California’s economy and culture. It’s time to restore common sense and ensure that American laws reflect the values of fairness and legality, rather than continuing down a path that rewards illegal behavior with privileges that rightfully belong to the citizens and legal residents of California.
