Bipartisan Resolution Condemns Harris’s Border Failure

Six Democrats mustered the courage to join Republicans and condemn Kamala Harris for her disturbing failure at securing our borders.

In a resolute move this week, House lawmakers, both Republicans and Democrats alike, passed a resolution condemning Vice President Kamala Harris and the Biden administration for their disturbing mishandling of the U.S. border crisis. This resolution, spearheaded by House Republican Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik, was not just a mere formal gesture but a damning critique of Harris and Biden’s failure to address what has turned into a national security and humanitarian crisis under their watch.

The resolution was passed with a significant vote of 220-196, spotlighting not only the bipartisan frustration with the administration’s border policies but also casting a shadow on Harris’ capability as a leader, especially following Biden’s recent withdrawal from the 2024 race. Six Democrats broke party lines to vote in favor of the resolution, signaling deep divisions within their ranks and reflecting a growing discontent with Harris’ role in exacerbating the border calamity.

Rep. Elise Stefanik didn’t mince words when she declared, “Harris and every elected Democrat owns this historic border crisis that has turned every community into a border community.” Her words underscore a painful truth: under the current administration, the border has seen an unprecedented surge in illegal crossings, including individuals on the terrorist watchlist, turning it into a dangerous gateway rather than a safeguarded border.

Under Harris’s Border Policies, Our Country Will Continue to Suffer

This debacle isn’t just about numbers; it’s about a failed leadership that chose to ignore the escalating crisis until it spiraled out of control. Harris, once dubbed the “border czar”, was tasked in March 2021 by Biden to address the “root causes” of the migrant crisis. Yet, her actions—or lack thereof—have only fueled the fire. Her infamous response to not visiting the border and comparing it to not visiting Europe during a tense interview highlights a dismissive attitude towards a grave issue affecting millions.

What we are witnessing is a leadership vacuum that is dangerously naïve in its approach to border security and immigration enforcement. It’s a stark departure from the Trump-era policies which, regardless of one’s political stance, prioritized the security and safety of American citizens first. The rollback of such policies under the guise of humanitarian concerns has not alleviated the crisis but has, in fact, deepened it, making every American town a border town.

It is evident now more than ever that VP Harris, with her record as a senator and vice president, embodies an extremist stance on border security, markedly out of touch with the realities on the ground. The resolution passed by the House is not just a condemnation but a clarion call for a return to policies that prioritize America’s safety and security over political expediency. If we have another four years of this administration, our country will become unrecognizable.
