Illegal Immigrants Who Caused Border Riot Get Slap on the Wrist

Why do illegal immigrants get a slap on the wrist while American citizens have the full weight of the law crash down on them?

This past weekend, an El Paso judge decided to release the illegal immigrants who incited a border riot on March 21st. On this day, over 100 migrants made the bold move to breach U.S. borders by tearing through razor wire and overpowering Texas National Guard members. Footage of the event paints a vivid picture of the desperation and chaos at the border, a scenario that’s become all too common.

Only 9 of the illegal immigrants were charged with assault and it remains unclear how many were charged with “riot participation.” Paired with Judge Humberto Acosta’s directive for immediate release, the approach to the crimes committed raises serious questions about border security and the enforcement of U.S. immigration laws. Judge Acosta’s verdict to release these migrants sets a worrying and dangerous precedent.

These individuals, after blatantly disregarding U.S. laws and putting the lives of service members at risk, are being released back into the community with little more than a slap on the wrist. It’s an affront to law and order, a slap in the face to those tasked with defending our borders. All the while, Texas is on the front lines of an escalating crisis, grappling with an unprecedented surge of illegal immigrants. Yet, the Biden administration seems determined to tie the Lone Star State’s hands, thwarting any attempt to bolster border security or deter these illegal crossings. It’s as if the federal government is rolling out the welcome mat for illegal immigration.

If American citizens had dared to do what these illegal immigrants did to our National Guard troops, you can bet the consequences would be swift and severe. Remember the government’s response to the January 6th participants? The full weight of the law came crashing down, showcasing a zeal for punishment that seems conspicuously absent when dealing with border chaos. Where’s that same fervor for justice now? It’s as if there’s one rulebook for American citizens and another for those who flout our laws from abroad. The double standard is glaring and unacceptable.

This isn’t just about border security; it’s about the integrity of our legal system, the safety of our communities, and the future of our republic. If we continue down this path, the very fabric of our nation is at risk. It’s high time for a course correction, one that reinstates respect for our laws and prioritizes the safety of American citizens and those who stand guard at our borders.
