Chinese Student Sentenced for Harassing Pro-Democracy Resident

A Chinese student in Boston was finally sentenced after launching a terror campaign against a pro-democracy Chinese permanent resident.

In a disturbing display of the reach of Communist China‘s intimidation tactics, a former Berklee College of Music student, Xiaolei Wu, was sentenced to nine months in prison for his appalling acts against a supporter of democracy. This incident unfolded when the victim, a U.S. permanent resident with family still in China, dared to post a flyer at the Boston campus championing the rights of the Chinese people to freedom and democracy.

The flyer’s simple call for liberty—”Stand with Chinese People” and declarations like “We Want Freedom” and “We Want Democracy”—triggered Wu, who launched a chilling campaign of harassment. His threats were not idle. Wu threatened to mutilate the victim by chopping off their hands, he exposed their personal details online, and ominously, he reported their family to China’s draconian public security agency. This was a calculated assault fueled by the toxic, oppressive ideologies endorsed by the Communist regime in China.

Acting U.S. Attorney Joshua Levy underscored the severity of Wu’s crimes, noting how he leveraged the pervasive fear of the Chinese government’s retribution to silence and terrorize an individual merely expressing their desire for democracy. This case shines a harsh light on the terrifying reality that the tentacles of China’s authoritarianism extend even into the United States, attempting to stifle the sacred American values of free speech and expression.

The court’s decision to imprison Wu for nine months, followed by three years of supervised release, is a step in the right direction. It’s about time America firmly stands against the creeping shadow of communism that seeks to suppress free thought and dissent, even on our shores. Wu’s actions, dictated by a regime that despises the very notion of personal freedom, serve as a stark reminder of what is at stake. It’s not just about one student at Berklee; it’s about all who are living in America and buying into socialism’s lies. We must act now to preserve our freedoms and democracy.

Therefore, this episode is a clarion call to all liberty-loving Americans and should ignite outrage in every corner of the free world. The fight against communist tyranny extends beyond the borders of China and into the very heart of our cherished institutions. Let this case be a warning: the free world must remain vigilant and resolute in defending our values and liberties against all who conspire to undermine them, whether they lurk abroad or within our midst.
