Defend the Vulnerable. Advocating for freedom of choice in vaccines and working to hold politicians accountable who implement policies harmful to children, seniors, and others who are less powerful.
What We Believe
No Vaccine Mandates
State and local governments should be barred from discriminating against people based on their COVID vaccination status.
Victims of Lockdowns
Lockdowns caused lasting harm to children, seniors, small business owners, and many others. Many policies were simply inhumane.
Lockdowns Hurt Kids
Children have been greatly harmed by lockdowns, both physically and mentally–and the effects could last for years. It was all unnecessary.
Defend the Vulnerable fights for you and your children to be free to live your lives. The last two years have been a struggle for everyone. Lockdowns and other heavy-handed and unwise policies made our problems worse. Children lost opportunities to develop and learn; families were separated; small businesses were destroyed. Such draconian policies can never be allowed to happen again.
We believe in a united country. We firmly reject the narrative that America is not exceptional. Our mission is to protect the ideals of individual rights, freedom of will, and personal responsibility, while actively taking the fight to detractors, legislative bodies, and those who support them.
No Vaccine Mandates
Before the vaccines came out, we were promised two things:
- If you get the vaccine, you won’t get COVID
- If you get the vaccine, you won’t spread COVID.
Science has clearly proven that neither is true. Vaccinated people can get and spread COVID.
There is evidence that vaccines do reduce the effects of COVID, if you get COVID. But there is also scientific data that younger people have a significantly reduced risk from COVID compared to the elderly and those with preexisting conditions.
Victims of Lockdowns
Lockdowns caused lasting harm to children, the elderly, small business owners, and many others.
- Children were locked out of school, harming their education and their physical and mental health.
- Seniors and others in hospitals were isolated and alone, with their families denied visitation rights.
- Nursing homes were forced to accept COVID-positive patients, leading to seniors dying Workers lost their jobs. Small businesses went out of business.
- Lockdowns created higher rates of addiction and suicide.
Janice Dean, a TV meteorologist, tells of how both her in-laws died in New York in 2020 from COVID in separate long-term care facilities. She was not able to properly celebrate their lives until the following year. Her father in-law died just days after New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo issued a directive that facilities for the elderly had to accept COVID-positive patients. Cuomo resigned after an investigation found his administration tried to cover up nursing home deaths.
New Jersey resident Peter Dario was not allowed to visit his father in the hospital when he was dying of COVID. “The last time Peter John Dario saw his father alive was on March 14, at the entrance to a hospital in Edison, N.J. An employee took him away in a wheelchair, telling Mr. Dario and his mother gently but unequivocally that they could not go in the building,” recounted the New York Times.
Drug and alcohol abuse increased during COVID lockdowns. Lockdowns anxiety and depression. In one tragic instance, an 18-year-old’s parents were unable to save him from killing himself. Researchers called COVID suicide survivors a “hidden grieving population.”
According to Yelp, 80,000 businesses closed down for good during the first few months of COVID alone. Nick Muscari had worked in restaurants for two decades and opened Nick’s Sports Grill in Lubbock, Texas–his “life work.” Yet he lost it all in 2020, and still owed the bank $80,000.
Lockdowns Hurt Kids
Locking down kids isolates them from friends and educators. It creates anxiety. It harms their growth and development. It made kids more sedentary. And it was all driven by special interest politics.
Pro-lockdown activists always say “listen to the science.” The science is clear: Locking down kids is harmful to their health.
In an analysis published in the journal JAMA Pediatrics in January 2022, researchers examined 36 studies from 11 countries and found “school closures and social lockdown during the first COVID-19 wave were associated with adverse mental health symptoms (such as distress and anxiety) and health behaviors (such as higher screen time and lower physical activity) among children and adolescents.”
Meanwhile, researchers from Brown and four other universities reported in a 2021 study that babies born during lockdowns have significantly lower IQs. “Researchers are concerned that less parental stimulation coupled with a lack of engagement with other children may be partly to blame. This decreased interaction may inhibit the growth of neural connections that drive child development,” reported EdSource.
Who Is Responsible? Answer: Teachers Unions and Politicians They Pay
Kids were locked down because of lobbying by teachers unions to keep schools closed. Teachers unions spend millions getting politicians elected–and they expect a return on this “investment.”
Children across the country were locked down while teachers got their full salaries and benefits and teachers union officials pulled in cushy salaries. Randi Weingarten, the head of the American Federation of Teachers, made over $500,000 in 2020 while she was advocating for school closures.
Teachers unions exist to lobby for teachers–not students. Speak up for kids by taking action below.
