National Souls and Our Spiritual Crisis

If you’ve been following along with my essays, you know that I spent much of the summer talking about the corruption driving every major American institution—and how we can go about gutting and rebuilding them. (Here are links to parts I, II, III, and IV)

You may also have seen my new series on red pilling. That 5-part series (only Part I is out at the moment) is a blast from my past. I thought that it was apropos heading into the midterms because I believe that a lot of Americans—lifelong Democrats, proud liberals, and those who long considered themselves apolitical—are waking up to just how dangerous today’s left has become. As someone who has been there, however, I know that becoming disillusioned with your longstanding political allies is the easier part of the equation. Learning to stand with those you’ve long vilified is tougher. I thought that I would share my own experience with a collection of turning point essays I wrote between 2002 and 2010.

My big push, however, has been on a lengthy series I’m teeing up to run in conjunction with my colleagues at the American Center for Education & Knowledge and the American Coalition. It’s a series oriented around a fairly simple three-prong argument:

1. America is mired in a deep spiritual crisis.
2. Wokeism is a brilliant and dangerous new religion that has arisen to fill the spiritual void among America’s elite.
3. To defeat Wokeism, we must reconnect with the American Spirit of our founding and realign ourselves with traditional faiths.

There are many working parts to the argument, so I expect to churn out quite a few essays. The current plan is to launch them first at the American Coalition, then follow up through this Substack. Watch for them in a new section.

In the meantime though, I have been able to get out a few relevant pieces. Think of them as something of a teaser.

This morning on American Greatness, I took on Joe Biden’s dark, divisive, semi-fascist “soul of the nation” speech to show that he did a decent job identifying a problem, but if he really wanted to understand the source he needed to look in the mirror.

I also had a delightful conversation with Tamara Leigh & Brett Hamachek on the topic—geared towards my earlier Human Events article on the Trans Movement and the Woke Soul.
